SPVs

Tackling the SPVs –

so you don’t have to

Tackling an SPV – or “Specialist Purpose Vehicle” – can be a daunting task. SPVs are set up to build and subsequently run buildings financed through PfI, through a series of contracts covering Hard FM, Soft FM and Lifecycle Replacement. It is typical for the cost of these contracts to be unfairly high, but challenging them to achieve savings can be a daunting task

Fortunately, it is possible! To find out how the Sentamu Academy Learning Trust achieved savings of over £100k per year on these costs, contact me via achubbconsulting@gmail.com

I have over 30 years' experience of working in the English state education system, including 15 years as a secondary headteacher in two different schools, and almost 5 years as CEO of the Multi Academy Trust I established in 2015. During my career, I have taken 3 different schools into "Specialist College" status (languages, performing arts, and business and arts), designed a £35m academy under the BSF scheme, and bid for, designed and opened one of the largest "Alternative Provision" academies in the country. In 2015 I established the Sentamu Academy Learning Trust, which currently comprises one large secondary academy, two AP academies, and two primary academies. My passion has been serving learners and their families in areas of high social deprivation - which is where I have spent the majority of my career, including the last 15 years. Through my consultancy, I now seek to support schools and MATs by carrying out work which might otherwise fall on Headteachers and indeed CEOs, thereby freeing them up to focus on leading teaching and learning, and raising standards.
